Heart Shaped Jam Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Filling & Decoration
  • 0.5 cup jam strawberry, raspberry, or your favorite
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Method
 

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk together flour and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mix until combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Divide dough, flatten into discs, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets.
  7. Roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness.
  8. Cut out cookies with heart-shaped cutters; cut centers of half the cookies.
  9. Place cookies on baking sheets.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are golden.
  11. Cool cookies on baking sheets, then transfer to a wire rack.
  12. Spread jam on solid heart cookies.
  13. Dust cutout cookies with powdered sugar (optional).
  14. Place cutout cookies on top of jam-covered cookies.
  15. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use high-quality butter and jam. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
