Ingredients
  

Apple Mixture
  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Oat Topping
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch salt

Method
 

  1. Combine apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  2. Mix oats, flour, sugar, melted butter, vanilla, baking powder, and salt until crumbly.
  3. Layer apple mixture in CrockPot, then spread oat topping evenly over.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours until apples are tender.
  5. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For a crunchier topping, bake the oat mixture separately and add before serving.
