Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Wet ingredients
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. Melt butter, then mix with sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to wet mixture.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips if using, then pour into pan.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, cool before slicing.

Notes

For extra richness, add a handful of chopped nuts or more chocolate chips.
